ok…am I the only one that thinks carbon offsets are a crock of shit? I mean really…it’s a great idea in theory, however, like everything else, people are taking advantage of it and using it to get away with things.
I think it gives some people reason to be lazy and say “well… who cares that I havent had my car smogged in 30 years…I’m buying offsets! yay me! I’m doing my part…” And other huge companies think “Hey, who cares if I’m leaching toxic chemicals into our drinking water…Ill just buy a few million in offsets and continue to contaminate all I want…”
*rolls eyes*
Crock of shit.
Now Joe Shmoe down the street buys offsets because he does his best to live as green as possible, but feels guilty for having to drive 30 miles to work every day and buys offsets to help… THAT is what offsets are for. NOT so big companies can continue to polute and get away with it.
…just sayin…
Here… send ME your money for offsets and help me fix my house up so I can conserve more energy by adding solar panels and replacing my water heater with a waterless one. Then I’ll redo as much as possible to live greener…THAT is a way you can help!
