I'm not a terribly interesting person, but I sure do like to talk!

I have 4 kids. I’ve been a mom for over 13 years. And before that I pretty much raised my brother (he’s 17 now). So I’ve put some time in. You can say I’m a pro at the whole ‘mom’ thing, right?

It never fails to make me a nervous wreck when one of my kids gets hurt. My youngest child, Caleb…he’s 4…had cerebral palsy. He’s not severe, as a matter of fact he’s very mildly affected. But he’s clumsy. VERY clumsy.

So…after a stressful drive up the hill to my friends house as my van breaks down a hundred times (this AFTER my husband ‘fixes’ it…) in the middle of nowhere (literally…nothing for miles…or ANYONE…) we finally make it to my friends house (a half hour drive took us just over an hour…) to play cards. We have fun, but I’m super tired and my friend who offered to drive us all home says she wants to leave too. So hubby goes out to check on the van (being charged back up). Next thing I know, Caleb is crying. My husband comes in and says ‘he fell down the stairs of the porch’ All calm and almost laughing like it was comical for a 4 yr old to fall down stairs.

now…he has CP. The kid is clumsy. He falls ALL the time (and I mean ALL the time) but he gets up and acts like nothing happened. Occasionally I’llk have to kiss it and ‘make it better’ and then he’s ok. Once he knows he’s not bleeding he’s ok.

So…I have daddy out him on the table so I can make sure there’s nothing wrong, kiss it, and then tell him to get his shoes on so we could go home.

WRONG.

in mid sentence of me saying he’s fine and just about to kiss it, I see a trail of blood. Luckily, my best friend’s husband is a fireman, and she’s a medical assistant. So they come over and have a peep, and I feel myself starting to black out (LMAO). I have half the people over with my son, and half over with me tryign to keep ME conscious!

Turns out he needed stitches, so they took him to the ER and I went home with the other kids. He ended up getting 3 staples (!!!) in his head (!!!!!!!) and he acted like it was just any other day….after the fact. I guess he was pretty traumatized about it while it was happening. Another reason I decided I should stay home. I would have been on that floor in the ER.

Isnt it funny that I can keep level headed when stuff like this happens to my friends kids or strangers, but when it comes to MY kids I go full stupid? I literally almost fainted. AND…it wouldnt have been the first time either. Once he bit his tongue (and needed stitches!!!) and I DID pass out LMAO My poor husband is holding him, trying to calm him down, and trying to wake me up at the same time. That was crazy.

Anyway, he’s fine now. He’s been acting like his self all day and everything. Just a bump on the head (and a cut almost 2 inches long and 3/4 of an inch wide…).

*SIGH*

Crazy. Praise God it was just a bump.
